Naomi Tipping
Naomi is an illustrator and lecturer based in Nottingham, UK. She graduated with a degree in illustration from Loughborough University. After working as an editorial illustrator for 10 years, she took a break to have her three girls.
In 2025 Naomi graduated with a distinction from the MA Children’s Book Illustration course at Cambridge School of Art. She has enjoyed focusing on children’s books and developing a more painterly, immediate and playful visual language. Naomi loves experimenting with materials, seeing how they respond to each other, and using unlikely materials in her work. She loves sunsets, shadows and reflections and her work is inspired by relationships, living in the city, and everyday observations.
Naomi likes tackling difficult subjects in her work, in a warm and accessible way, as well as making silly things that make people smile!
In 2024 Naomi won the Batsford Prize for Illustration with her picturebook Oh Crumbs. In 2025 she was highly commended for the Sebastian Walker prize. She was a finalist in the 61st edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrators Exhibition.
When Naomi isn’t at her desk she can be found running around Nottingham, swimming in a lake or curled up on the sofa with her cats!
