Naomi Tipping

Naomi is an illustrator and lecturer based in Nottingham, UK. She graduated with a degree in illustration from Loughborough University. After working as an editorial illustrator for 10 years, she took a break to have her three girls.

In 2022 Naomi enrolled on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, where she is currently in her last term. She has enjoyed focusing on children’s books and developing a more painterly, immediate and playful visual language. Naomi loves experimenting with materials, seeing how they respond to each other, and using unlikely materials in her work. She loves sunsets, shadows and reflections and her work is inspired by relationships, living in the city, and everyday observations.

Naomi likes tackling difficult subjects in her work, in a warm and accessible way, as well as making silly things that make people smile!

In 2024 Naomi won the Batsford Prize for Illustration with her picturebook Oh Crumbs.

When Naomi isn’t at her desk she can be found running around Nottingham, swimming in a lake or curled up on the sofa with her cats!
