David Melling
David Melling grew up and studied art in London, becoming a freelance illustrator after college. He was employed by animation studios as a background artist and cel renderer, working on a number of well-known films.
With more than 150 books published, and translations into 30+ languages, David has achieved sales of over 5 million copies. He is probably best known for his Hugless Douglas series. The Kiss That Missed was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway medal, and The Tale of Jack Frost was made into a TV film, narrated by Hugh Laurie.
David’s more recent work includes the Ruffles picture book series for Nosy Crow, as well as his ‘fractured fairy tales’ series of picture books with Michael Rosen, published by HarperCollins.
