Charlotte Durance

Charlotte Durance is an author and illustrator who lives in East Anglia. She enjoys using humour, colour, shape and texture in her work. Charlotte studied English Literature and Film & Drama and this has inspired a love of composition and sequence. Play is an important part of Charlotte’s practice, and she finds inspiration through experiments with mixed media, printmaking and collage. She is never without a sketchbook and enjoys capturing everyday life.

Charlotte won the 2023 Picture This! competition. In 2024, she won the Batsford Prize for Children’s Illustration and a Communication Arts Award for Illustration.

Charlotte is currently studying for an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art.
